Last week, gay publication Genre magazine closed after more than 15 years as a monthly lifestyle magazine. Queerty recently published an article about what direction "gay media" is going in. There is a tone of concern as many gay publications closed within the last year and continue to face financial problems.
Other papers that have closed are The New England Blade and Windy City Times. Others have reduced staff and cut back on publication frequency. The Advocate is shifting from twice a month to once a month.
